Former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad questioned Pakistan’s stance, asking why it is intolerable for Islamabad that a neighboring country—one it has long tried to suppress—is now living in peace and stability.
In a post on his X page, Khalilzad noted that Qatar had successfully mediated an agreement for both sides to extend the 48-hour ceasefire, but Pakistan violated it.
He further stated that if Pakistan truly considers itself a genuine neighbor to Afghanistan, it should cease its invasions and respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
