President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Tuesday that he recognizes the urgency of putting an end to the violence “as soon as possible.”
“I think we all understand that we must end the war as soon as possible, of course,” he remarked when he met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin in Kiev.
Additionally, Zelenskyy evaluated Parolin’s visit to Kyiv as a “strong signal from the Vatican,” albeit he did not elaborate on his assessment.
Zelenskyy also stated in a Telegram statement that the discussion with Parolin was centered toward peace concerns.
The goal of international initiatives is also to resolve the conflict.
Without Russia, the June 15–16 summit on Ukraine was held in Burgenstock, Switzerland.
The conference in Switzerland was attended by delegates from eight international organizations and ninety-two countries. The final statement was adopted at the end, however other nations—including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India, and South Africa—did not sign it.
Three topics were discussed in the communiqué: the return of war prisoners, the safety of nuclear power plants, and the export of food from Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, advanced his own peace offer the day before the conference, urging Ukraine to acknowledge Russia’s territorial claims established during the “special military operation” that began in February 2022.
