Turkey says it suspends commerce with Israel over Gaza humanitarian access

“Turkey will strictly and decisively implement these new measures until the Israeli Government allows an uninterrupted and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

The declaration came after Israel’s foreign minister stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was violating agreements by preventing ports from receiving Israeli goods and exports.

“This is how a dictator behaves, disregarding the interests of the Turkish people and businessmen, and ignoring international trade agreements,” Israel Katz said in an article for X.

Katz stated that he directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work on developing alternatives for commerce with Turkey, focusing on domestic manufacturing and imports from other nations.

In 2023, the two countries’ combined trade volume was $6.8 billion.
