Supreme Court Presents its Annual Performance Report

During a press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Supreme Court delivered an overview of the institution’s performance over the past year.

The officials highlighted that, pursuant to a decree from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, in commemoration of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, a total of 2,304 prisoners were released, while an additional 1,920 individuals were granted sentence reductions based on the recommendations of relevant authorities.

They further reported that over the course of the year, 185,591 cases were resolved. In total, 250,762 civil and criminal cases were handled by courts at various levels, including the primary, appellate, and supreme courts. Of these, 203,478 cases were adjudicated by primary courts, 34,762 by appellate courts, and 7,892 by supreme courts, with the remaining cases still under review.

In addition, the officials noted that 8,005 narcotics-related cases and 3,373 cases concerning women’s legal rights under Sharia law were addressed.

The Supreme Court also processed and registered 179,818 legal documents into its database during the past year.

Moreover, the Court received 335 cabinet resolutions and decrees from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, on which the necessary legal actions were duly executed.

In the Islamic year 1445, the Supreme Court convened 38 sessions of its High Council, during which 191 critical decisions were made.

The Supreme Court’s General Inspection Department audited 533 cases in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. In addition, inspection teams conducted visits to all provinces over the past year, reviewing appellate, city, and district courts, as well as inspecting prisons to evaluate the conditions of inmates.
