Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Signs Agreement for the Construction of Standardized Laboratory Complexes in Kabul and Nine Ports

In the presence of H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, a contract worth more than $46 million was signed today, Wednesday, between the National Standards and Quality Authority and an international company for the construction and equipping of laboratory complexes.

Under the agreement signed at the Government Media and Information Center between the Head of the National Standards and Quality Authority, Mawlawi Faizullah Tamim, and the representative of the Indian international company (TCRC), the company will, over a five-year period, establish standard laboratory complexes in the capital and nine ports of the country, supply and install advanced equipment, repair existing equipment, and deploy foreign specialists to enhance the professional capacity of the Authority’s staff.

As part of the agreement, training programs will also be conducted for the professional staff of the National Standards and Quality Authority at both domestic and international levels. In addition, the process of obtaining internationally recognized quality certifications from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will also be implemented.
