On Wednesday, 13 November 2024, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) provided information on the new price ceiling for both voice and data bundle services during a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC).
During the press conference, the Minister of MCIT Najibullah Hayat Haqqani stated that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in response to public demands has prioritized voice and internet bundle services. As a result, the new price ceiling for both voice and data bundle services has been set for the second time, following an analysis and assessment of the previous year’s tariffs and expenditures.
Providing more information on the new price ceiling for voice bundles, the Minister stated that the cost of one minute of voice communication between subscribers on the same network is set at 1.30 Afghanis, demonstrating a 30% reduction compared to the previous year. Additionally, the cost of one minute of voice communication between subscribers on different networks is set at 1.40 Afghanis, demonstrating a 36% reduction compared to the previous year. He also mentioned that the cost of one GB of data is set at 95 Afghanis, showing a 14% reduction.
Moreover, the Minister shed light on SMS bundles, stating that the cost of a message between subscribers within the same network is set at 1.30 Afghanis, while the cost between subscribers on different networks is set at 1.40 Afghanis, representing a reduction of 60% and 68% compared to the previous year.
It is worth mentioning that the new price ceiling will be executed at the start of the new year (2025).
