Economic Commission Approves Draft of National Development Strategy

The regular meeting of the Economic Commission was held under the leadership of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund.

The meeting took place today, April 15, 2025, at the Marmarin Palace. The draft of the National Development Strategy was presented to the Economic Commission for discussion.

After comprehensive evaluation and incorporating the amendments proposed by the Commission, the draft was approved.

The draft of the National Development Strategy is a comprehensive, unified, and long-term document prepared for the purpose of defining and achieving the country’s fundamental national goals over the next five years.

It has been developed under the leadership of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Office, with the Ministry of Economy acting as its secretariat, and in collaboration with the relevant sectoral ministries.

This strategy envisions a stable, prosperous Afghanistan with strong and positive relations with the region and the world. Its key objectives include upholding Islamic Sharia law, ensuring principles of efficiency, transparency, and accountability, expanding effective and constructive relations with the region and the world, establishing sustainable peace and overall security, creating employment and fostering economic growth, preserving religious and national values, territorial integrity, and Islamic sovereignty, enhancing effective management of national and natural resources, improving the delivery of basic services, promoting industry, trade, and private sector development, advancing infrastructure and regional connectivity, and improving social protection and the living environment.

Additionally, during the meeting, the Ministry of Finance was tasked with including in the fiscal year 1404 budget the feasibility study projects for a natural reservoir in Mandol District of Nuristan Province and hydroelectric dams in the Kalagush area of Nurgram District in the same province.

At the end of the meeting, two proposals from the private sector were also approved.

The approved proposals are: the construction of a Tir Park in Khenjan District of Baghlan Province, with an investment of 209 million Afghanis and the construction of an underground commercial market with 511 shops in the center of Ghazni Province, with an investment of 309 million Afghanis.

These matters were forwarded to the esteemed Office of the Amir-ul-Mu’minin, may Allah protect him, for final approval.
