During his visit to Iran, Dr. Abdul Latif Nazari, Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Economy, stated in an interview with an Iranian news outlet that Afghanistan and Iran have the potential to boost trade transactions to as much as $10 billion.
Nazari highlighted the Herat-Khawaf railway as a key project to enhance bilateral trade. He also emphasized the strategic importance of Iran’s Chabahar Port for Afghanistan, noting that the Islamic Emirate aims to leverage it for economic development.
He added that Afghanistan seeks to build regional and international partnerships based on a balanced, economy-driven foreign policy.
