The Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, met with a delegation from the Aga Khan Foundation in his office.
During this meeting attended by Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, President of Aga Khan University and Hospitals; Dr. Gijs Walraven, Director of Health at the Aga Khan Foundation; the Aga Khan Foundation’s Country Director for Afghanistan; and several other officials, discussions were held on supporting health services in the country, strengthening the capacity of Afghan health workers, providing comprehensive support for cancer patients, promoting transparency in health services, determining appropriate prices for healthcare costs, offering both in-person and online training for specialists in specific fields, and ensuring sustainable cooperation in the health sector.
The Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, in addition to the above-mentioned topics, emphasized the expansion of the health system, the standardization of maternal and child health services, transparency, capacity building, and the standardization of expenditures. He also discussed the need for and facilitation of capacity-building programs in the area of cancer treatment.
On the other hand, the representatives of the foundation, while reaffirming their continued cooperation, expressed their commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s health system in various areas, including capacity building and other important sectors.
