The Pentagon has barred Ukraine from using a US-made long-range missile system against Russia, with final approval resting with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
The restriction limits Kyiv’s ability to deploy the missiles in its defense and comes as US President Donald Trump has voiced growing frustration over the three-year conflict.
Officials said a high-level, undisclosed approval process within the Defense Department has prevented Ukraine from launching US-supplied ATACMS missiles against Russian targets since late spring.
On at least one occasion, Kyiv requested to strike Russian territory but was denied, two officials confirmed.
