Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, met with Charlotte Slente, head of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), to discuss support for those displaced by the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan as well as returning refugees.
During the meeting, Ms. Slente expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and noted that the Danish Refugee Council had already dispatched emergency aid to the affected provinces.
She voiced concern over the forced deportation of Afghan refugees and pledged to raise the issue with Pakistani and Iranian officials. She further stated that the challenges faced by Afghan refugees would also be highlighted at the sidelines of the upcoming UN Security Council meeting.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir thanked the DRC for its humanitarian efforts, stressing that displaced families are in urgent need of both food and non-food assistance.
He emphasized the importance of providing cash support and rebuilding destroyed homes, urging international organizations to spare no effort in assisting the earthquake-affected communities.
