Bernie Sanders, a prominent US senator, has described Israel’s war in Gaza as genocide, stressing that the United States must stop sending billions of dollars and weapons to what he called the “genocidal Netanyahu administration.”
He is the first US senator to openly label Israel’s war in Gaza as genocide.
In a statement published on his website, Sanders wrote that Israel has been waging a full-scale war against the Palestinian people for the past two years.
His remarks came a day after the UN Commission of Inquiry released a new report declaring that Israel’s war in Gaza constitutes genocide.
