Shaikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid, Deputy Minister of Counter Narcotics at the Ministry of Interior Affairs, met with Scott Smith, Political Director of UNAMA, and his accompanying delegation.
According to the Ministry, UNAMA representatives expressed their appreciation for the decree of His Highness Amir al-Mu’minin on the eradication of narcotics and commended the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in combating drug production and trafficking across the country.
For his part, Deputy Minister Shaikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid emphasized that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has taken serious measures against narcotics and has not allowed anyone to cultivate, smuggle, buy, or sell them.
He further noted that narcotics are not solely Afghanistan’s problem but a global challenge, stressing that treatment of addicts, prevention, vocational training, provision of alternatives to poppy cultivation, and eradication efforts all require strong international cooperation.
