A delegation from the Ministry of Public Works, led by Deputy Minister for Railways Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, participated in the International Transport and Logistics Forum and Exhibition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry, Sahibzada held meetings on the sidelines of the event with representatives from the UAE Railway Authority, the Deputy Director of Kazakhstan Railways, the Head and First Deputy Director of Uzbekistan Railways, and officials from countries involved in the Afghan-Trans project.
Discussions focused on the construction of the Herat–Kandahar railway and the commencement of its practical work, reducing transit costs for Afghan commercial goods moving to and from China via Kazakhstan, initiating technical and economic studies for the Afghan-Trans project, and facilitating trade routes from the Middle East and other regions. Opportunities for further trade support and incentives for merchants were also explored.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in developing transport infrastructure and expanding railway connectivity.
