Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone call with Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, to discuss bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Russia, economic cooperation, and the latest regional developments.
During the call, the Afghan foreign minister expressed Afghanistan’s position regarding the recent aggression by Pakistan against its sovereignty. He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate prioritizes diplomatic solutions to resolve issues but reserves the right to defend its people and territory.
For his part, Sergey Lavrov expressed concern over the regional situation and stressed that problems should be resolved through political dialogue. He added that Russia is ready to assist in resolving the crisis.
