Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Yu Shaoyong, China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations between Kabul and Beijing and recent regional developments.
Referring to rising tensions with Pakistan, Mr. Muttaqi emphasized that the Islamic Emirate prioritizes the peaceful resolution of disputes while reserving the sovereign right to defend its territory and people.
He described Afghanistan’s relations with China as positive and expressed hope for the practical expansion of cooperation across multiple sectors.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Special Representative conveyed Beijing’s condolences to the families of Afghan victims of recent Pakistani attacks and stated that China is committed to reducing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
