Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, held a phone conversation with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, discussing bilateral relations, Afghanistan–US issues, regional developments, and the latest developments between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry stated that Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, while appreciating the UAE Foreign Minister’s successful mediation in securing the release of a US detainee in Afghanistan, expressed readiness to resolve other issues through bilateral cooperation.
Regarding the current situation with Islamabad, the Afghan minister emphasized that Afghanistan, as a neighboring country, seeks to resolve problems with Pakistan through dialogue and mutual understanding, and that all Afghan military actions against Pakistan are defensive, reserving the right to self-defense in case of aggression.
