Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, met with Arafat Jamal, Representative of UNHCR, to discuss the situation of Afghan returnees.
During the meeting, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir stated that Afghan migrants in the Zakhil and Hamza camps in Pakistan are still facing registration challenges and lack access to essential services.
Meanwhile, Arafat Jamal noted that the leadership of the “International Group for Addressing Afghan Migrants’ Issues” has initiated efforts to mobilize financial resources for returnees and is expected to visit Afghanistan in the near future.
He further added that two large carpet-weaving factories have been established by UNHCR in Herat and Mazar-e-Sharif, where hundreds of returnees are currently employed.
