A bipartisan delegation of US senators visiting Beijing has called for stability and peaceful cooperation between the United States and China ahead of next week’s meeting between the two countries’ leaders.
Senator Steve Daines said the US seeks “de-escalation, not decoupling” during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
US President Donald Trump is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on May 14–15. Daines also expressed hope for renewed Boeing aircraft orders despite ongoing trade tensions.
