A standard laboratory for assessing the quality of food, medicine and health products at the South-West Zone level has been inaugurated in Herat Province in the presence of officials of the Islamic Emirate.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said at the opening ceremony that the laboratory will assess the quality and safety of food, medicines and health products imported into Afghanistan from neighboring and other countries.
Mr. Baradar urged traders to refrain from importing substandard products into the country, stressing the need to ensure that imported goods and services comply with national and international standards.
He said strengthening quality-control mechanisms is an important step toward economic growth, consumer protection and improving the standard of products and services in Afghanistan.
