10,000 megawatts of electricity generation equipment will be delivered to the country soon


The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met with Afghan national businessman and investor Mr. Mirwais Azizi and his technical team.

During the meeting, Mr. Mirwais Azizi, Chief Executive Officer of Azizi Energy Investment Company, stated that the company has procured all the technical equipment required for the production of 10,000 megawatts of electricity and will soon commence the transportation of the equipment to Afghanistan. He further announced that construction of a major hospital for the treatment of cancer patients will also commence in the near future.

Following his remarks, the technical committee, comprising representatives of the relevant Emirate institutions and Azizi Energy Investment Company and operating under the leadership of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, presented its report.

According to the report, the feasibility studies for the following solar power projects have been completed, and the respective Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) have been signed:
A 100 MW solar power project in the Naghlu area of Kabul Province;
A 100 MW solar power project in the Barikab area of Parwan Province; and
A 131 MW solar power project in Ghazni Province.

The committee further reported that implementation of these projects has already commenced on the ground.

In addition, technical discussions are currently underway regarding several other projects, including:
A 165 MW coal-fired power plant in Takhar Province;
A 350 MW coal-fired power plant in Baghlan Province;
The construction of the Naghlu and Ghazni substations; and The extension of a power transmission line from the Tarakhel area of Kabul Province to Sanaye Sabz (Green Industries).

The committee stated that these technical discussions are expected to be finalized in the near future and also presented recommendations aimed at expediting project implementation.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs commended the committee’s achievements and issued the necessary directives to the relevant Emirate institutions to further expedite the remaining work.

He instructed the relevant authorities to complete the outstanding tasks in several areas within two weeks and submit a progress report to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.

H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s full cooperation with Azizi Energy Investment Company and urged the company to complete its projects efficiently and within the stipulated timeframe.
