4 women, 4 children among 24 martyred in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

At least 24 Palestinians have been reported martyred, including four women and four children, with dozens more injured as the Israeli army continues its airstrikes in the Gaza Strip early Saturday morning. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, 11 Palestinians lost their lives and 15 others were injured when Israeli fighter jets targeted a house in the Al-Amal neighborhood, located west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Medical sources outlet that “the body of a martyr and three injured individuals were transported to the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital following gunfire from Israeli vehicles directed at tents for displaced persons on Street 5, west of Khan Younis.” The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that five Palestinians were martyred in an Israeli shelling that struck a motorcycle in the Al-Katiba area of Khan Younis.

Additionally, three Palestinians were martyred and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in the Ayn Jalut Towers in Nuseirat Camp, central Gaza. Another four Palestinians were martyred in a separate bombardment of a residential apartment in the same camp, as reported by the Palestinian Civil Defense, which did not provide further details.

In Gaza City, the Israeli army has intensified its air and artillery bombardment of the Zeitoun and Al-Sabra neighborhoods, according to eyewitness accounts. This ongoing offensive follows an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

Local health authorities report that the conflict has resulted in over 40,200 Palestinian martyrs, predominantly among women and children, and more than 93,000 injuries. The ongoing blockade of Gaza has led to critical shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, leaving much of the region devastated. Israel is facing accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in the southern city of Rafah, where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge prior to the area being invaded on May 6.
