The Ministry of Public Health says that a four-day polio vaccination campaign has started in 20 provinces of the country, in which about 9 million children will be vaccinated.
Dr. Sharafat Zaman, the spokesperson of the ministry, says that due to the forced evacuation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, the threat of infectious diseases among women and children, especially polio, has increased in the eastern provinces of the country, therefore this process will continue up to seven days in 42 districts of the eastern provinces.
On the other hand, a number of mothers and fathers consider the anti-polio vaccine to be effective in preventing their children from polio and want families to vaccinate their children for a better future.
Doctors ask people to cooperate with the vaccinators in applying the polio vaccine.
According to official figures, six cases of polio have been registered in the eastern provinces of the country this year.
The World Health Organization says that the threat of this disease has increased with the start of the forced evacuation of Afghans from Pakistan this year.
