The Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Qatar, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, met in Doha with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to discuss the challenges facing Afghan refugees returning from Iran and Pakistan.
According to the Afghan Embassy in Qatar, the two sides discussed the need to provide returning refugees with shelter, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities to support their reintegration.
The meeting also addressed complaints from returnees whose assets and properties were allegedly confiscated unlawfully.
During the meeting, the UN High Commissioner acknowledged the difficulties confronting Afghan refugees and pledged to work toward addressing these challenges and supporting efforts to find solutions.
