Officials from the National Carpet Union stated that during the past solar year, approximately 6,000 carpets and 4,000 square meters of rugs, valued at 18 million US dollars, were exported from Afghanistan to 37 countries.
Abdullah Rahman Qol, head of the union, noted that the majority of exports were directed to the United States, Turkey, and European countries.
He further stated that carpet processing is currently conducted within the country, adding that with the expansion of processing activities, employment opportunities for around 50,000 people are expected to be created.
