Brazilian officials reported that the recent severe weather conditions in Rio Grande do Sul state have tragically resulted in the loss of 57 lives and injuries to 74 individuals.
Additionally, 373 people are reported missing, and approximately 10,000 others have been displaced due to floods, landslides, and storms.
Authorities have raised concerns about the water levels potentially impacting dams and posing a threat to the 1.4 million residents of Porto Alegre.
The transportation infrastructure has also suffered damage, leading to flight delays at the international airport in Porto Alegre.
This devastating situation follows previous storms that claimed the lives of many in the country.
