Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Assesses the Overall Situation of Bagram Prison


H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led a delegation comprising members of the Commission for the Regulation of Structures and Salaries on a visit to Bagram Prison to assess its overall situation and hold meetings and discussions with the inmates.

During the assessment, the delegation inspected various sections of the prison and conducted a comprehensive review of the overall condition of the inmates, the provision of healthcare services, the distribution of food, detention conditions, the mechanisms for addressing inmates’ concerns, and other related matters.

While meeting with a number of inmates, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi listened to their requests and instructed the prison authorities to ensure the full observance of inmates’ rights in accordance with the provisions of Islamic Sharia.

He further directed the authorities to accord greater attention to improving detention conditions, strengthening the delivery of healthcare services, providing the necessary facilities, and effectively addressing the inmates’ concerns.

The prison authorities also provided the delegation with a comprehensive briefing on the condition of the inmates, the process of addressing their affairs, and the measures undertaken to date. They further assured the delegation of their continued commitment to resolving existing challenges and enhancing the provision of services.
