The Deputy Director of Broadcasting of the Ministry of Information and Culture stated on International Radio Day that there are currently 280 radio stations operating in Afghanistan, and the Islamic Emirate strongly supports all forms of media, including radio. Afghanistan National Radio has been broadcasting programs in seven national and local languages for 18 hours every day for many decades. Officials of National Radio broadcasting have mentioned that compared to the past, improvements have been made in their operations and the number of fans is increasing. It is worth noting that Radio Afghanistan first began broadcasting in 1906 during the reign of Shah Ghazi Amanullah Khan, under the name of Kabul Radio, located near the Dehmazang area of Kabul in the building known as “Kota Londoni.” However, due to civil wars, it was temporarily suspended and resumed operations in 1941. It is now 96 years old and operates under the name of National Radio of Afghanistan.
