A Food and Drug Committee meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, focused on improving the country’s pharmaceutical regulatory system and preventing the import of substandard medicines.
Participants discussed ensuring that only approved essential medicines are imported and reviewed measures to strengthen oversight of the drug sector. Monitoring teams were also instructed to curb the sale and distribution of substandard and expired food products and medicines in markets across the country.
