Several Democratic lawmakers criticized the speech, particularly his remarks on Iran and its impact.
Congresswoman Yasmin Ansari described Trump’s threat to “return Iran to the Stone Age” as “disgusting, frightening and misleading” toward a nation of 90 million people.
Congressman Jim Himes said oil prices rose by $5 a barrel within an hour of the speech.
Senator Chris Van Hollen accused Trump of misleading the public, saying his earlier claim that “we won” was untrue, adding, “This delusional man is a danger to our country and the whole world.”
Congressman Seth Moulton also warned that Trump’s “misguided and ignorant” approach to Iran has put US troops at risk.
