Five-Year Power Development Plan Approved

The five-year power development plan, which was approved by the Economic Commission under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was approved by His Eminence Amir al-Mu’mineen, may God protect him.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs says that this plan includes 25 projects for generating electricity from domestic sources such as water, solar, wind, and coal, 13 incomplete and 23 planned projects for extending power transmission lines, 21 incomplete and 21 planned projects for constructing substations, and 34 planned projects for power distribution.

With the completion of these projects, significant development and progress will be achieved in the energy sector and reliance on imported electricity will be reduced.

According to the Deputy Minister of Economy, the implementation of this plan will further strengthen the role of the energy sector in the country’s economic reconstruction and strengthening of financial independence, in order to achieve the goals set based on self-sufficiency and energy security.
