Today (Tuesday, 8th of Sawar) marks the 34th anniversary of the fall of the communist regime in the contemporary history of Afghanistan.
On this occasion, a ceremony was held in the conference hall of the General Directorate of the National Radio and Television of Afghanistan, attended by a number of senior officials of the Islamic Emirate.
In a statement, the Islamic Emirate described the 8th of Sawar as a day of the country’s freedom and pride. According to the statement, 48 years ago, on 7th of Sawar 1357, a number of communists carried out a coup, as a result of which the country faced numerous challenges.
The statement adds that after 14 years of struggle, the Mujahideen and freedom-loving Muslims of the country freed Afghanistan from the influence of the Soviet Union on 8th of Sawar 1371 and achieved independence.
At the same ceremony, the Director General of the National Radio and Television, Qari Mohammad Yousuf Ahmadi, stated that by defeating the communist regime, Afghans gained not only political but also intellectual freedom.
Likewise, the Deputy of the National Environmental Protection Agency, Mawlawi Saaduddin Saeed, said that commemorating this day conveys to current and future generations the message that Afghans are a proud nation and never accept aggression or invasion.
Meanwhile, the Professional Deputy of the Ministry of Economy, Dr. Abdul Latif Nazari, stated that the 8th of Sawar is considered one of the significant factors in the fall of the former Soviet Union.
At the same time, the Financial and Administrative Deputy of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mawlawi Shahabuddin Thaqib, described this day as one of joy and pride for Afghans.
Similarly, the Deputy of the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, Shaikh Abdul Hakim Haqqani, considered the commemoration of this day important for future generations and said that the deserts of Pul-e-Charkhi stands as testimony to the oppression of the communist regime.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Emirati Companies, Mawlawi Ahmad Jan Bilal, emphasized that the 8th of Sawar is an unforgettable day in the history of Afghanistan.
