Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Engage in High-Level Talks to Expand Economic Cooperation

Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, held a high-level meeting with Shuhratbek Abdurakhmonov, Governor of Andijan, Uzbekistan, with the objective of addressing the mutual needs of both countries, strengthening economic and commercial ties, attracting investment, and increasing the volume of bilateral trade.

During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on prospective investments in key sectors, including the production of fertilized and table eggs, cement manufacturing in Afghanistan, processing of Afghan cotton, and the production of leather footwear in Uzbekistan. They also deliberated on enhancing transit cooperation, emphasizing the implementation of an agreed framework to facilitate the movement of a minimum of 1,000 transit vehicles per day between the two countries.

Additionally, the Governor of Andijan proposed the establishment of a library within Bagh-e Babur, the initiation of direct flights between Andijan and Kabul, and the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the cultural sector.

He further extended an official invitation to the Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce to visit Andijan.
