Afghanistan, Uzbekistan Reaffirm Commitment to Joint Energy Projects! Alhaj Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, Chief Executive Officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), leading a high-level delegation, travelled to the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he held an important meeting and discussion with officials of Uzbekistan National Electric Grid.
At the outset of meeting, Chief Executive Officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat thanked the officials of Uzbekistan National Electric Grid for their warm reception and hospitality. He stated that Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are two friendly neighbouring Muslim countries whose bilateral relations have grown stronger than ever in recent years.
A new chapter of joint cooperation has been opened between the two countries in various fields, particularly in the energy sector. Uzbekistan’s investment in the major Surkhan–Pul-e-Khumri power transmission project is, for us, a clear sign of mutual trust and sincere cooperation between the two countries.
Afghanistan has an urgent need for electricity,and we hope that Uzbekistan will continue to play its constructive role in the development of Afghanistan’s energy sector in the future.
During the meeting, officials of Uzbekistan National Electric Grid, presented comprehensive information on the implementation progress of the 220 kV Surkhan–Pul-e-Khumri power transmission project, Arghandi substation, as well as Jalalabad power transmission line and substation.
They assured Afghan side that these projects would be completed according to the established timeline and in full compliance with the highest technical standards.
They also emphasised that, throughout the implementation of these projects, employment opportunities will be created for Afghan companies and country’s technical professionals, enabling these projects to make a practical, effective, and meaningful contribution to strengthening the capacity of Afghanistan’s electricity sector and enhancing the capabilities of domestic companies.
