Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs: Islamic Emirate is committed to maintaining and providing labor rights

A tripartite meeting was convened in honor of the International Day of Labor and Workers, focusing on Occupational Safety and Health.

Hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in collaboration with the International Labor Organization and the private sector, the discussions encompassed various aspects such as workers’ rights, safety, healthcare, support, intervention, work opportunities, and solutions. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mawlawi Zahidullah Jan Agha, affirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights.

The International Labor Organization officials in Afghanistan highlighted the conference’s objective of supporting workers across different sectors in the country.

Dr. Ramin Behzad, Director of the International Labor Organization in Afghanistan, emphasized the importance of prioritizing worker safety and duties, commending the Ministry’s efforts.

The labor community officials in Afghanistan underscored the vital role of workers in the nation’s development and advocated for job opportunities, eradication of child labor, and social justice.

This significant day was commemorated in Kabul, where approximately 6,000 industrial factories operate, engaging 1.2 million citizens in their work, including 35,000 women.
