Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held discussions with Yue Xiaoyong China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, on strengthening bilateral relations, regional issues, and developments in the Urumqi talks.
Mr. Muttaqi identified relations based on regional stability, balance, economic cooperation, and mutual respect as fundamental pillars of Afghanistan’s foreign policy, emphasizing that the success of the negotiations is contingent upon practical steps, enhanced trust-building, and the reduction of tensions.
The Chinese Special Envoy, in turn, underscored the importance of serious engagement, confidence-building, and mutual understanding, noting that the subsequent stages of the Urumqi dialogue process should facilitate concrete outcomes.
Both sides further emphasized that, with a view to strengthening regional stability and sustainable cooperation, the Urumqi talks should proceed on a clear, practical, and results-oriented agenda.
