Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, in Moscow.
The two sides held comprehensive discussions on strengthening political ties, expanding economic cooperation, and addressing regional issues.
Mr. Muttaqi described Russia’s recognition of the Islamic Emirate as a “historic development” in the trajectory of bilateral relations, stating that the decision opens new avenues for political and economic collaboration and enhances Afghanistan’s global role.
On the other hand, Sergey Lavrov highlighted that this step provides unprecedented opportunities for political, economic, and international cooperation between Kabul and Moscow. He also praised the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in counter-narcotics and security, noting that its achievements and independent stance benefit the region.
