Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Mawlawi Abdul Kabir met with the British Special Representative for Afghanistan, Richard Lindsay, to discuss humanitarian cooperation and regional developments.
According to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, Mr. Lindsay welcomed the recent ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan and expressed hope that Kabul and Islamabad would work together toward achieving a lasting peace.
The British envoy praised the Islamic Emirate’s efforts to assist vulnerable populations and address their needs in a timely manner, describing these efforts as a positive achievement. He noted that the United Kingdom has allocated £4 million in aid to support victims of the recent earthquakes in eastern Afghanistan and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people.
For his part, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is utilizing all available resources to support Afghan refugees and those in need.
He added that, in addition to providing short-term assistance to returnees, the government has initiated the construction of several housing projects aimed at providing permanent shelter for displaced families.
