The Directorate of Dawah and Guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an awareness meeting to explain and clarify Decree No. 31 of His Highness Amir al-Mu’mineen, may Allah protect him, concerning the nationwide ban on poppy cultivation.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry on Sunday, July 19, the meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammad Naeem, Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration, officials from the Directorate of Dawah and Guidance, ministry employees, and a number of religious scholars.
The discussions focused on the objectives of the decree, its legal and social dimensions, its international implications, and the Islamic Emirate’s policy on combating narcotics.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohammad Naeem described drugs as a serious social problem and said preventing their spread is a shared responsibility of all members of society. He stressed that every individual has a religious and social duty to raise awareness and help prevent drug abuse.
He noted that young people are among the most affected by narcotics, warning that drug addiction undermines their role as the foundation of society and hinders the country’s development and prosperity.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of the full and effective implementation of Decree No. 31, stating that its enforcement contributes to public health, security, social well-being, the rule of law, and the country’s credibility.
Participants also highlighted the significance of the decree in preventing the cultivation, production, trafficking, and use of narcotics, describing it as an important step toward protecting public health and reducing social harm.
The meeting concluded with a call for continued cooperation in raising public awareness, preventing drug abuse, and ensuring the effective implementation of Decree No. 31, while encouraging participants to fulfill their religious and national responsibilities.
