A regular meeting of the Procurement Commission, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Al-Haj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was held at the Marble Palace.
A total of 40 projects were presented to the meeting for approval. Following deliberations, 16 projects with an estimated value of approximately AFN 3.5 billion were approved, and a number of necessary amendments were approved for 20 other projects.
Additionally, designated committees were assigned responsibilities regarding two projects to negotiate with the winning companies concerning project costs and to submit their reports to the leadership of the Procurement Commission.
The contracts for two projects were cancelled because the winning companies were not prepared to implement them in accordance with the terms of the contracts. Consequently, these companies were referred to the Debarment Committee.
The approved and amended projects include:
Construction of the Qadis Khordak Water Reservoir Dam in Badghis Province;
Conducting geotechnical studies for the Kilagi Dam in Baghlan Province;
Completion of the remaining works on a 600-metric-ton-capacity cold storage facility in Paktika Province;
Design and installation of 10,000-ton-capacity oil storage facilities for the Amu River Oil Basin;
Construction of a 50-bed general hospital in Charchino District of Uruzgan Province;
Construction of a truck terminal in Tarinkot, the centre of Uruzgan Province;
Construction of several internal roads in Kabul City; and
Completion of electricity transmission and distribution projects in various provinces.
The approved projects will be financed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
