Recent rains have raised the levels of both surface and groundwater

The officials of the Ministry of Water and Energy reports that they have done regular planning for the country’s water management, they continue to add that work is underway, on six large dam construction projects, which will create a positive change in the country’s water management, with the completion of these dams.

The officials reaffirms that the ongoing drought makes the recent rainfall insufficient, additionally, the recent rains may have the beneficial impact, of raising the underground water level.

Some experts claims that the rains of the last few weeks in the country, are not enough but it can be effective in increasing the water level.

On the other hand, there should be an effort for creating dams, ponds and artificial wells.

Meanwhile, the construction of check dams to store rainwater has been proven useful in other countries. In Afghanistan, in the past few years, some small check dams have been built to store rainwater, but their number is not enough.
