Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi discussed the “grave military and political crisis” in the Middle East during a phone call on Friday, amid ongoing regional escalation.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov also informed Araghchi about the delivery of a new batch of humanitarian aid to Tehran. The crisis follows continued U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran since Feb. 28, which have resulted in significant casualties.
Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets, causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting global markets and aviation.
