Shaikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, Minister for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Evil, held talks with Arafat Jamal, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Afghanistan, on services provided to returnees, the removal of existing obstacles, and the enhancement of coordination efforts.
Highlighting measures undertaken to facilitate the reintegration of returnees and address issues related to women’s rights, Mr. Hanafi stated that since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the Sharia and fundamental rights of hundreds of thousands of citizens have been safeguarded.
For his part, Arafat Jamal stated that approximately six million Afghans have returned to the country since 2023, adding that efforts are continuing to support returnees through cash assistance, shelter provision, and the creation of employment opportunities.
