The United Arab Emirates said on Sunday that its air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles and drones, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched attacks on US military bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar.
The UAE Ministry of Defense said explosions heard across the country were caused by air defense systems intercepting the incoming projectiles. Qatar raised its security alert, urging residents to remain indoors, while Bahrain activated air raid sirens and advised people to seek shelter.
The IRGC claimed it had struck Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, alleging it destroyed the base’s command center and MQ-9 drone hangars in retaliation for recent US attacks. It also accused Washington of encouraging ships to take an “illegal route” through the southern Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran’s navy responded with “decisive action.”
