Upon the Prime Minister’s directives, special measures implemented to safeguard livestock in five provinces from the detrimental effects of winter rains

The five provinces of the country (Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Herat, and Badghis) have witnessed the destruction or imminent threat to cattle and livestock belonging to numerous fellow countrymen, caused by heavy rainfall and snowfall.

In response to these distressing reports, an immediate and specialized meeting was convened by the Prime Minister of the IEA, Alhaj Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Border Affairs, along with ministers and their delegates, actively participated in this crucial gathering. Following a comprehensive assessment of the situation, an emergency committee was established to address the multifaceted challenges at hand.

During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that a committee would be formed in each province, led by the respective governors. These committees would include representatives from the army corps, police commanders, public affairs departments, public health authorities, and other relevant service agencies. These committees will promptly utilize all available resources and capabilities within the mentioned provinces. Their efforts will encompass delivering essential food supplies directly to people’s homes, implementing measures to ensure their warmth and well-being, taking significant steps to clear blocked roads, and urgently responding to other requests from the affected population.

To support the immediate organization of affairs, the Minister of State has urgently approved an allocation of fifty million Afghanis, with the provision of further aid if required.

To facilitate efficient management of these initiatives, the committee appointed in the central region of Kabul will diligently carry out its responsibilities and regularly submit reports on all activities to the Office of the Minister of State.

Furthermore, the public is kindly urged to extend their support to farmers in their nearby areas, aiming to prevent further loss of human lives and livestock.
