Mawlawi Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of the State-Owned Enterprises Authority, met with Jamshid Khojaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
According to the State-Owned Enterprises Authority, Bilal said that relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are progressing positively, noting that bilateral trade reached nearly 2 billion Dollars over the past year.
For his part, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister announced that Uzbekistan will purchase 100,000 tons of cotton from Afghan farmers. He also said his country will cooperate in supplying chemical fertilizers, improved seeds, and encourage the participation of Uzbek investors in Afghanistan’s infrastructure and development projects.
Mr. Khojaev further stated that the feasibility study for the Afghan-Trans project has been completed, adding that a technical team from Uzbekistan will remain in Kabul to coordinate the export of Afghanistan’s fresh fruits.
