Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador to Qatar, stated in an interview with a Russian media outlet that additional countries may follow Russia’s lead in recognizing the Islamic Emirate.
He added, “We may hear good news in the coming weeks or months.”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson, Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, welcomed Russia’s decision and called on other nations to take similar steps.
This comes after the Russian Federation officially recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in a significant diplomatic move. Following the announcement, the flag of the Islamic Emirate was raised over the Afghan Embassy in Moscow.
It is worth noting that Russia’s decision was made based on a proposal by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and formal approval by President Vladimir Putin.
