Chief Executive Officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, held a meeting in his office with the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Turdakun Sydykov, and his deputy, Mr. Daniyar Zholchev, to discuss the technical aspects, challenges, solutions, and outcomes of multilateral meetings related to the CASA-1000 project.
During the meeting, Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of DABS, stated that the processes of land acquisition and designated project areas in all 35 districts of the seven provinces from Kunduz to Nangarhar related to the CASA-1000 project have been completed using the internal budget of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat. However, he noted that despite this progress, the supporting institution and the contracted company are not advancing the project swiftly.
CEO Dr. Omar assured the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan that meetings have already been held with the Indian contracting company involved in the CASA-1000 project, and in upcoming meetings, which will include the leadership of DABS, comprehensive discussions will be conducted to accelerate the project’s progress.
CEO of DABS extended an invitation to the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to participate in an upcoming investment conference, which is being organized by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat next month to attract investment in the power sector.
He also shared information regarding the existing opportunities in the electricity generation sector in Afghanistan, stating that Kyrgyzstan can also invest in these relevant areas.
CASA-1000 is a major vital regional energy connectivity project through which electricity will be transmitted from Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan) via Tajikistan and Afghanistan to Pakistan. In addition to the 300 megawatts of electricity, the cost of the transit portion of the project will also be paid to Afghanistan.
