Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi and his delegation met with the Deputy Minister of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Rashid Muradov.

During this meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, increasing Ashgabat’s diplomatic presence in Afghanistan, the practical initiation of the TAPI project in the country, enhancing the electricity import from Turkmenistan to Herat province, the establishment of the Lajward Route, the development of the Afghan railway, and Turkmenistan’s investment in Afghanistan. Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi announced the Islamic Emirate’s readiness to commence practical work on the TAPI project in Afghanistan, stating that this project will soon begin with the collaborative efforts of both countries. He emphasized the Islamic Emirate’s focus on regional economic connectivity and highlighted the construction of railways and highways as key priorities. He urged the Turkmen side to invest in the development of the Turghandi-Herat and Andkhoi-Shabarghan railways to Mazar-e-Sharif. Additionally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan expressed that expanding trade with Afghanistan is a top priority for his country, and the practical work on the TAPI project will soon commence through joint efforts in Afghanistan.
