During a meeting between Zhao Xing, China’s Ambassador to Kabul, and Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Minister of National Defense, the two sides discussed Afghanistan–China bilateral relations, security cooperation, and recent regional developments. They emphasized mutual understanding, strengthening regional cooperation, and the importance of confidence-building.
The Ministry of National Defense stated that the Chinese ambassador, while appreciating Afghanistan’s constructive stance and support, spoke about his country’s position regarding the Urumqi talks and its readiness for the future, expressing hope for the continuation of the process.
Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, in turn, stressed that regional security is of special importance to Afghanistan and described dialogue as the best solution.
He added that the Islamic Emirate’s position is based on tolerance, mutual respect, and understanding, while defending the country against any aggression remains a legitimate right and national responsibility.
